Nicholas Lockleair
Instructor | 3rd Degree Black Belt
Nicholas has been a part of the Action Zone family since he was just six years old. Now with over two decades of training and a 3rd-degree black belt. He began teaching at age 14 and has worked with students of all ages over the years.
Nicholas is known for his strong, direct teaching style—always pushing students to give their best while guiding them with patience and care. “I want to see students apply themselves,” he says. “It’s disheartening to see someone give up on their potential when I know they’re capable of more.” His classes are grounded in perseverance and mutual respect—he constantly encourages students to treat one another the way they would want to be treated.
One of his favorite moments is when a student has that lightbulb moment—when a movement finally clicks and their confidence shines through. “Watching their personalities come out as they learn is one of the best parts.”
Outside the dojo, Nicholas enjoys surfing, woodworking, and diving into the world of computers—especially cybersecurity and software development. He’s constantly looking for ways to grow and reflect, often drawing inspiration from books, podcasts, and meaningful conversations.
A note from Nicholas to new students:
“If you’re nervous about trying martial arts, just do it. You miss 100% of the things you never try. Action Zone is a special place. Everyone here wants to learn, grow, and lift each other up. The fellowship and encouragement that happen within these walls—that’s what makes this place amazing.”
